Let's Clean-Up and Blog!

September is National Clean-Up Month. On September 17 to 23 every year, it is the World Clean and Green Week. It aims for the protection of the environment by shedding light on environmental problems that need to be eradicated, inspiring the community to lead an environmentally conscious lifestyle. As students and members of the community, for the environment to blossom and thrive, we are responsible for keeping the environment clean and pampered with love and care to shield it from the negative effects.

Here's what I did and what you can do to contribute to the protection and preservation of the environment:

1. Waste Segregation - Segregating waste reduces pollution and lessens harm to humans and animals.

2. Planting - Trees and plants protect us from heavy rains and floods as well as provide the air we breathe, fighting climate change.

3. Educate and Advocate - Understand the importance of the environment and advocate it to others in the community.

4. Coastal Clean Up - Whenever at a beach, try to be mindful on where to put your waste and observe cleanliness.

It is in our hands to take care of and change the environment we live in, One Day or Day One!

My First Quarter Reflection

 a. What are the learning/discoveries that I have gained?

During this First Quarter, I have discovered that I have a knack for things technology-related and that it drives my passion to improve my technological skills. I also learned how to create blogs and I felt that the activity was pretty fun and cool and it also honed my writing skills and social communication with other students of the ICT subject.

b. What are the problems/challenges that I have encountered?

I had a few bumpy roads during this quarter. There were some terms and topics that I have only heard of recently and I had a lack of performance.

 c. How did I address these challenges?

Despite my lack of confidence in not knowing these new topics and lack of performance I put out, I still managed to bounce back and learn with ease through the passion and determination I had to improve and enjoy what I was learning.

d. Moving on, I will….

With the remaining quarters, I will do my very best to showcase my talents and love for the subject ICT as well as learn more and apply it to my daily life. No matter what problem arises, I will continue to bounce back and improve myself while enjoying and having fun.

A Teacher's Dedication and Passion: Honing Compassion and Shaping the Future

Our teachers are the people who simply teach us lessons and topics, give out tests, and do grades. But, teachers are more than that, they are our second parents. They guide us in everything that we do and give us love and care. Teachers play a significant role in honing a child's mind. Every day, they dedicate their time and effort to providing us quality education that builds our future and mentoring us to improve and grow as individuals in society.

As students, we thank teachers for their dedication and patience while teaching us lessons until we understand them and for being by our side to encourage us no matter what life throws at us. They continue to inspire students like myself to become better people who give their all in what they do.

They spark the fire of curiosity and love of each individual they interact with, they guide us to the paths of success, remembering to always love what we do and bring kindness to the world around us. Furthermore, as they are supportive and loving towards us, we should support them as well. Even just giving a simple and sincere greeting or compliment to a teacher makes their day and seeing that the love they radiate on what they do has a powerful impact on their students.

My Teacher is My Mentor, they have helped me through the darkest of times in my life although they may not realize it. They bring color to the subjects they teach and it motivates me to become a better person. We are very thankful to have you in our lives, for your hard work, dedication, and passion towards shaping the country's future.

The Philippines’ Reaction, Compassion, Action: An unshaken determination towards a more resilient and steadfast protection to the country

The Philippines is situated in a region within the Pacific Ring of Fire that calls for awareness in disaster preparedness. The Pacific Ring of Fire leads to disasters such as earthquakes, typhoons, volcanic eruptions, and tsunamis. The geographical position of the country makes it prone to severe landslides and flooding due to monsoon rains. As the problem Climate change arises and worsens, it causes unpredictable and extreme weather patterns like rising sea levels and stronger typhoons/rain. Environmental degradation including deforestation and urban sprawl is another problem evident today which worsens the impact of these natural hazards by reducing natural barriers and increasing the likelihood of disasters. These environmental issues create tragedies like panic and even death which is why there is a need to create strategies for resilience to protect the country and its people.

In response to these challenges, the Philippine government established the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Act of 2010, this act focuses on active disaster management strategies such as early warning systems and disaster awareness or drills to communities. Furthermore, they have plans of Infrastructure investments including improved drainage systems, flood control projects, and earth earthquake-resistant buildings. Environmental protection efforts such as reforestation projects and coastal mangrove restoration help naturalize disaster resilience that act as buffers against natural hazards. Also, community-based activities play an important role in spreading awareness regarding  disaster preparedness training, simulation exercises and developing local emergency response plans.

Despite the efforts of the Philippines, the country still faces challenges in building resilience and achieving steadfast protection. The Philippines is still a developing country therefore there are limited financial resources and funding constraints that slow the implementation and improvement of disaster risk reduction measures or techniques. Rapid urbanization and population growth makes the economy vulnerable with informal settlements in high-risk areas that further complicate disaster management efforts. Furthermore, there is a need to continuously adapt to the unpredictable climate change that also means there is a need to continuously improve/change disaster management strategies. An immediate action is important to improve and enhance the country’s resilience for steadfast protection of its people.

A Letter to the President

Mr. Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

President, Republic of the Philippines

MalacaƱang, Manila

 August 22, 2024

 Dear President Marcos,

First of all, congratulations on winning the election and showing us that you are capable of leading our country.

By the means of creating and implementing programs that have improved our economic growth in a span of a few years under your term, that in itself is very commendable. However, this should not keep you from improving the country because there will always be ups and downs and it is important to minimize the impacts it will have on the country and its people.

We, Filipino people, have faith in your leadership. I wish the best for you and your family, please continue to love and cherish the country.

                                                                                                              Yours truly,

                                                                                                              Queen Angel B. Siscar

                                                                                                              10-Marconi

A Queen’s Life Story

Who is this Queen? Let's get to know her better.

Good day everyone! I am Queen Angel Bautista Siscar, I am 15 years old, and I was born on July 29, 2009. I like playing video games such as Roblox, PUBG, Valorant, and CODM. During my free time, I also like painting because of its therapeutic effect on me. Travelling is also something I like to do with friends and family even if it's just a 45 minute car ride.

I have been an academic excellence awardee since I was a child. However, in school, I am usually introverted and I only speak when I am spoken to. But, I slowly get more social with peers when I get comfortable. I once was an insecure child, I felt like I was not pretty or cool like others because of my size. Although, over the years, I began to realize that everyone experiences similar situations and we all just need some love and care to feel comfortable in our own skin. This realization helped me grow as a person and it inspired and motivated me to change my outlook in life and that you can choose to learn something positive about a negative situation and breaking free from your bubble will help open many doors to success and true happiness.

As of now, I am a 10th grade student and I plan on studying well to become an honor student and graduate with flying colors to get into the STEM track in Senior High school. I would like to join different clubs and organizations STEM offers. I also want to improve my writing skills by joining journalism related events and the school paper. During college application season, I plan on applying to eight different schools; four locally and four abroad. Furthermore, after applying and getting accepted at my chosen school, I plan on taking either Information Technology or Computer Science for four years and achieve a Latin Honour. Lastly, after graduating, I will try to find a job at an IT company and when I save enough money, I will be able to open my own IT service company.
